Giving Day

Join the Virginia Tech community for Giving Day, a 24-hour celebration of the Hokie Spirit and the power of giving back. You choose where you want your gift to have an impact, and special challenges mean that your gift can go further and do more good than at any other time of the year. If you'd like to donate to Career and Professional Development you can go directly to your donation page, or visit https://givingday.vt.edu and look for our name under 'Additional Areas of Support' once Giving Day arrives. Giving Day starts at noon on February 19 and runs until noon on February 20.
Career and Professional Development is committed to fostering accessible and equitable opportunities for students to gain real world work experience through internships, co-ops, and other work-based learning experiences. Participating in Giving Day 2025 has the potential to increase and expand our current programs and initiatives and reduce barriers for students to participate in these professional opportunities.
Your donations will directly impact the lives of of Virginia Tech students by supporting them in unpaid internships and offset other hidden costs of participating in internships such as:
- transportation
- housing
- relocation
- required work attire and materials
- other living expenses.
In addition to initiatives that will provide stipends and financial support to students in unpaid internships, specific programs that would benefit from this support include:
Career Outfitters which provides students access to free professional attire and accessories, empowering them to confidently and appropriately present themselves in professional events such as career fairs, networking events, interviews, and on the job; help to increase inventory of high demand, low supply sizes to improve equitable access to professional attire.
Every contribution, big or small, will enable us to scale programs, increase student access, make a lasting impact on their educational and professional journeys, and empower students to participate in experiences to advance their career readiness in pursuit of their professional goals.
The collective impact of Giving Day will last far beyond this 24 hour event.
